MasterChef Junior is a competitive cooking reality show on Fox, based on the British series Junior MasterChef. MasterChef Junior premiered on Fox on September 27, 2013. Since then, seven seasons of MasterChef Junior have aired on Fox. The show involves children from the ages of 8-13, who compete to win a cash prize of $100,000, the title of MasterChef Junior, and the MasterChef Junior Trophy.
Gordon Ramsay has been a regular judge on the show in all seven seasons so far. Restaurateur Joe Bastianich was co-judge on the judge for seasons 1 to 3. He was replaced by pastry chef Christina Tosi in season 4. Graham Elliott was also co-judge on MasterChef Junior for the first four seasons. In season 5, alongside Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, a number of guest judges featured instead of a single judge. Joe Bastianich returned as the third judge for season 6 and was replaced by Aaron Sanchez in season 7.
Season 7 of MasterChef Junior premiered on March 12, 2019. The seventh season saw 24 contestants competing for the MasterChef Junior title and trophy. The season had 15 episodes and finished on June 4, 2019. MasterChef Junior was renewed for an eighth season in July 2019. Season 8 will see Daphne Oz replace Christina Tosi as the judge alongside Gordon Ramsay and Aaron Sanchez.
MasterChef Junior Season 8: What we know so far
Season 7 of MasterChef Junior saw an average demo rating of 0.75 in the 18-49 category. It had an average of 2.83 million viewers across 15 episodes. These numbers are marginally lower as compared to those of season 6, but the show has shown no signs of slowing down. This became evident with its renewal for another season in July 2019.
Season 8 of MasterChef Junior was scheduled to premiere on Fox in September 2020. However, it was postponed to an unannounced date later in Fox’s 2020-21 season. The show was replaced by a new reality gaming show I Can See Your Voice, which is scheduled to premiere on September 23, 2020. Season 8 of MasterChef Junior does not have an air date as of now, but we can expect it to premiere sometime in early 2021.
