MasterChef is a competitive cooking reality TV show on Fox. The show first premiered on Fox in 2010. It is based on the British TV series of the same name. Since its debut on Fox on July 27, 2010, ten seasons of MasterChef have aired so far. Gordon Ramsay, the co-creator of the show, has been a regular judge in all ten seasons of MasterChef. Graham Elliott and restaurateur Joe Bastianich were the judges on the show alongside Ramsay for the first five seasons. Pastry chef Christina Tosi replaced Bastianich as the judge on the show for seasons 6 to 8. In season 7, Graham Elliott also departed, and the show had a series of guest judges in that season. The guest judge in season 7, Aaron Sanchez joined as a regular judge in season 8. In season 9, Joe Bastianich returned as the judge, replacing Christina Tosi.
A number of amateur cooks and home chefs compete with each other on the show. They perform a series of cooking challenges, which, after being judged by the judges, become the criteria for elimination. As the number of competitors is down to the last three, the cooks then prepare a full three course meal for the judges, based on which the winner of the show is chosen. The winner of each season wins a cash prize of $250,000, a MasterChef trophy and the title of MasterChef.
MasterChef Season 11 – What we know so far
The tenth season of MasterChef had a demo rating of 0.76 in the 18-49 category. The season averaged 3.05 million viewers across a run of 25 episodes. These numbers were slightly lower than those of season 9, but not significantly lower.
Casting for season 11 had reportedly begun in August 2019, while season 10 was still airing. The shooting had also commenced on season 11 of MasterChef but was forced to shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. About half of season 11 had completed filming when shooting shut down. It is now scheduled to resume in mid-October, with all safety protocols in place. Although Fox has not yet officially renewed MasterChef for season 11, the announcement is likely to be made once the show finishes filming. It is expected to premiere in the fall of 2021. Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich, and Aaron Sanchez will be back as the judges on season 11 of MasterChef.
