The series was adapted by Noga Landau, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for The CW. It has been produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire. The first season premiered on 9th October 2019 and was renewed for a second season in January 2020. The second season premiered on 20th January 2021. Nancy Drew was later renewed for a fourth season in February 2021.
The series has received positive reviews from the audience, although, critics review have been mixed or average. It has an approval rating of 53% on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 55 out of 100 on Metacritic. The first two seasons of the series had 18 episodes each with a running time of 40 to 44 minutes.
