Phoenix Rising: Plot & Cast!

Evan Rachel Wood co-authored and successfully lobbied for passage of The Phoenix Act, state legislation that extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence cases in California.

The trailer includes Wood’s friends and family. Also, it includes mother Sara Lynn Moore, who alleged that Wood’s former partner Marilyn Manson “groomed her” and was a “predator.”

Wood revealed that she was “essentially raped on camera”. And this happened while filming Manson’s 2007 music video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses.” Wood was 19 years old at the time. However, he alleged that she received absinthe on set to the point that she was barely conscious. The video features Manson and Wood having sex while fake blood is poured over them.

Wood’s mission is now to look after other women and fellow survivors. Wood said, “I realized I was not the only woman this happened to”. “We need to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.”

“We need to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.” Wood proclaims over a shot of her preparing her legislation. The poster for the project features Wood, standing tall and confident, with a powerful logline, “When the laws don’t protect you, change them.” a statement fueling the passion held by the team, the support group and Wood.

In support of Wood and Berg’s work, HBO is partnering with a non-profit organization, RAINN, to provide resources to victims and empower audiences to conduct change.
