Created by Ava DuVernay, Queen Sugar is a television drama series, made for Oprah Winfrey Network. DuVernay is also the executive producer alongside Anthony Sparks, Melissa Carter and Oprah Winfrey.
The first season of the series premiered on September 6, 2016 followed by the second season on June 20, 2017. The third season was released on May 29, 2018 and the fourth was released on June 12, 2019. The fifth season premiered on February 16, 2021 and the sixth season was released on September 7, 2021. The makers have already renewed the series for a seventh season.

Queen Sugar Plot and Cast
Although the makers have not revealed much about the plot of Queen Sugar Season 7, it will definitely continue from where the sixth season ended.
The series follows the lives of three siblings in rural Louisiana: Nova Bordelon, a formidable journalist and activist from New Orleans; Charley Bordelon, a working wife and mother in Los Angeles; and their brother, Ralph Angel Bordelon, a single parent struggling with unemployment and raising his son alone.
Their father has recently died and unexpectedly bequeathed an 800-acre sugarcane farm in equal proportion to each of his three children in Louisiana. Recently divorced, Charley, whose husband is caught up in a scandalous affair, takes her teenage son Micah and moves to the heart of rural Louisiana to operate the farm.
Talking about the cast, the leads of the first six seasons should come back to reprise their roles. This includes Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Kofi Siriboe, Nicholas L. Ashe, Omar Dorsey, Tina Lifford, and Bianca Lawson in the lead roles.
Queen Sugar Season 7 Release Date
The latest season of Queen Sugar premiered in September 2021 and concluded in November 2021. Before the finale of Season 6, the makers announced a seventh season and it has been officially confirmed that the seventh season will premiere in 2022, although a specific date is yet to be announced.
The number of episodes for the new season is not confirmed as it has been different in the first six seasons. The series is distributed by Warner Bros. Television Distribution.
