Another superhero franchise returning for a sequel. It sounds very normal, isn’t it? Actually we have created a pantheon of superheroes just that they will protect us (in movies to be exact) and we feel protected. So what’s exciting this time? Just other similar superhero series returning sounds bit (actually a hell lot) boring.
But don’t worry Amazon figured a way out of this boredom. A possibility where superheroes are being watched and punished for their wrong actions. A world where superheroes are corrupt and selfish. The troop of Superheroes work for a company and acts on the whims of the company. A novel concept indeed! Very different from the perfect image of a superhero that has been created for us.
The Boys is developed by Eric Kripke for Amazon. The series is based on a book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The first installment in the series was released in July 2019.
The Boys concept revolves around the fight between a group of corrupt and selfish superheroes and a group of vigilantes. The superheroes are managed by a company called Vought International. It markets them and effectively brands them as Seven.
On the other hand, the group of vigilantes is called Boys with its leader Billy do everything to control the vicious Seven.
