Based on The Crossover by Kwame Alexander, The Crossover is an upcoming sports drama television series. The series was officially greenlit in January 2022, with LeBron James’ production company SpringHill Entertainment joining the production.
Filming for the series began in February 2022. The executive producers of the show are Kwame Alexander, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, LeBron James, Alexander Johnson, Damani Johnson, Jay Marcus, Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr.

The Crossover Plot and Cast
The Crossover introduces teen brothers Josh and JB Bell, a widely considered basketball phenomenon. Through his lyrical poetry, Josh narrates the story of their coming-of-age, on and off the court, as their former professional basketball player father adjusts to life after basketball, and their mother finally gets to pursue dreams of her own,
The Crossover cast includes Jalyn Hall as Josh Bell, Amir O’Neil as JB Bell, Derek Luke as Chuck Bell, Sabrina Revelle as Crystal Bell, Skyla I’Lece as Alexis, Deja Monique Cruz as Maya and Trevor Raine Bush as Vondel.
The makers have not revealed a lot of details about the series. Further changes in the story or cast is expected to be announced in the next few months.
The Crossover Release Date
A pilot for the adaptation of the novel was ordered by Disney+ in May 2021 with Jalyn Hall and Amir O’Neil in the lead. The other actors were later added to the lead cast.
The show was officially greenlit in January 2022 with LeBron James’ production company SpringHill Entertainment joining the production. Daveed Diggs was chosen to narrate the series in February 2022 with filming starting in February 2022. For now, we can expect it to release sometime in 2023.
