The Matrix franchise has taken a long break. The last film in the series, “The Matrix Revolution” which was released way back in 2003. Fans cant wait to see Keanu Reeves back as Neo once again. So almost after an eternity, things were moving for Matrix 4 but the pandemic has slowed down things.
Matrix franchise revolved around a system of intelligent machines named Matrix which had imprisoned humans as slaves. From time to time, some humans would try to fight this system. Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity(Carrie Anne Moss), and Morpheus(Laurence Fishburne) were rebels trying to fight against this system. The first trilogy was written and directed by the Wachowskis. The Matrix trilogy was particularly popular for its action sequences. They have influenced many action movies to this date.
Matrix 4 will be written and directed by Lana Wachowski. The film will be a joint production by Warner Bros Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures.
What will be cast of The Matrix 4?
The Matrix series will always be incomplete without Keanu Reeves. So his presence as Neo is always confirmed. Apart from him, Carrie Anne Moss will be back as Trinity again. Jada Pinkett Smith will also return as Niobe. The movie will also see many new faces not seen before in The Matrix franchise. These members include Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (rumored to play young Morpheus). The other cast members include Brian J. Smith, Max Riemelt, Toby Onwumere, and Eréndira Ibarra.

What will be the release date for Matrix 4?
The Matrix 4 is scheduled to release on 21 May 2021.
The movie was already some weeks into production when the pandemic forced everything to stop. If the situation does not recover soon enough, the release date may get delayed.
