Netflix crime drama Young Wallander is now coming back with a new season. It is based on Henning Mankell’s fictional inspector Kurt Wallander and the first season premiered on September 3, 2020.
The show was however criticized for its choice of setting the series in the modern day. However, lead actor Adam Palsson explained that the pre-imagining made more sense than a prequel since it allowed for the social commentary which is an important element of Mankell’s original Wallander.

Young Wallander Season 2: Release Date and Plot
Young Wallander was renewed for a second season in November 2020. The all new season is now scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 17, 2022 and is subtitled as Killer’s Shadow.
Towards the end of Season 1, Wallander quit the police department in Malmo after wealthy killer Karl-Alex Munck was set free. We will see Wallander return to solve a murder that could be connected to an incendiary national news story in the series. The crimes will mostly revolve around teenagers and will show brutal killings and vandalizations.
The filming for the show started on September 11, 2019 and was mostly shot in and around Vilnius, Lithuania despite the fact that the show is set in Malmo.
The first season had six episodes with a runtime of 41 to 52 minutes each and the second season is expected to release with the same number of episodes with similar runtime.
Young Wallander Season 2: Cast and Trailer
Young Wallander Season 2 will see the return of Adam Palsson as Kurt Wallander. Apart from him, we might get to see Richard Dillane, Leanne Best, Ellise Chappell, Yasen Atour, Charles Mnene, Jacob Collins-Levy, Alan Emrys and Kiza Deen in supporting roles.
