The World Can Be Quite An Ugly Place. But We Cannot Wish That Ugliness Away. We Cannot Hide From That Ugliness.

The much-acclaimed book adapted series The Handmaid’s Tale had been received with the same amount of love and respect as the book did. The Margaret Atwood book almost shook the literary world, and now the series is already on the way to do so. Hence, the American dystopian web series The Handmade’s Tale has already renewed the fourth season, which is planned to release in the next year. No specific month or date has been declared and is understandable since the outbreak of the virus has disrupted the entire entertainment industry. The series created by Bruce Miller and was ordered by the streaming service Hulu as a straight-to-series sequence of 10 episodes, for which production began in late 2016.

The plot features a dystopia following a Second American Civil War wherein a totalitarian society subjects fertile women, called “Handmaids”, into child-bearing slavery. The fertility rates have collapsed as a result of sexually transmitted diseases and environmental pollution, and the society is organized by power-hungry leaders along with a new, militarized, hierarchical regime of fanaticism and newly created social classes. The women are subjugated and by law, women in Gilead are forced to work in very limited roles, including some as natal slaves, and they are not allowed to own property, handle money, or read. The previous seasons were renewed and released pretty fast but the latest one has been taking a long time. Brownie points, great news for the Atwood fans; her fresh release The Testaments is also being considered to be turned into a sequel series by Hulu and MGM.

Just like said above, the series received much love and appreciation which help them bag eight Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series and Best Actress (for Elisabeth Moss). The casting director has done a great job at solving the puzzle of casting and let us just say, they did fit in their roles and spaces, completing The Handmaid’s Tale jigsaw puzzle.  Elisabeth Moss plays June, Joseph Fiennes as Commander Fred Waterford, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena, Alexis Bledel as Dr. Emily Malek, Madeline Brewer as Janine, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, O. T. Fagbenle as Luke, Max Minghella as Commander Nick Blaine and the list goes on.
