What You Should Know About Disney’s Luca

Luca is an upcoming 3D American computer-animated film that is all set to come out next year. It will be produced by Pixar Animation Studios as well as Walt Disney Pictures, which purchased Pixar a while ago. Enrico Casarosa will direct the film while Andrea Warren produced the film. This film will be the twenty-fourth film to be produced by Pixar Animation Studios. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will be distributing the film.

Pete Docter serves as the executive producer for the film while Mike Jones and Jesse Andrews wrote the screenplay for the film. This is the first film that Enrico Casarosa will work on with Pixar. The previous film he directed was a short called La Luna. The film also pays homage to the Studio Ghibli film Porco Rosso, which is exciting for all us Studio Ghibli fans! Yay!

Luca: Plot and Cast

A young boy named Luca Portorosso (see the Studio Ghibli reference?) spends a seaside summer in the Italian Rivera that turns out to be unforgettable and beautiful. These days mostly consist of eating delicious and savory Italian pasta, creamy and juicy gelato and involves endless scooter rides all around the seaside.

Luca found a new friend to share all these experiences with, a friend that makes his summer all the more delightful. However, the friend harbours a deeply held secret, a secret that threatens to not only ruin the fun for Luca, but also potentially threaten his safety. His friend is actually a sea monster who thrives in the cold world under the ocean.

John Ratzenberger will be voicing one of the characters in the movie.
