WAR OF THE WORLDS

Written by Howard Overman, and directed by Gilles Coulier and Richard Clark, “War Of The Worlds” is a television series- a loose adaptation of The War of the Worlds, an 1898 novel by H. G. Wells about a Martian invasion that first broadcast on October 28, 2019.

PREMISE: Set in contemporary France, this Anglo-French reimagining of H. G. Wells’ classic in the style of Walking Dead follows pockets of survivors forced to team up after an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike.

SEASON 2 DETAILS:

Hold on tight as the second season of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi “end of the world” series serenades the internet on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 9:00 P.M on Epix. Although it is hitting a little close to home, you know what they say about humans- they are a sucker for anything that makes their blood boil yet leaves them gasping for more.

Six months after Emily disappeared onto an alien ship, the London survivors have set up a resistance base from which they plan to fight back. The aliens have since appeared and, though Bill cannot understand how they look exactly like humans.

During a chat with HeyUGuys, Edgar-Jones gave her thoughts on why setting the story in modern-day Europe was so appealing to her. “One of the more interesting things I thought we explored was our relationship with technology and our dependency on it,” she said. “We’ve grown so used to being able to solve things at the touch of our phones or to communicate that way and to travel using airplanes and all of that. And so, I think it’s interesting to explore what it would be like if suddenly, that technology wasn’t available to us and we have to navigate the world using other tools … And that’s why the modern adaptation is interesting.”
