Based on the Filipino komik series of the same name by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo, “Trese” is a Filipino anime-influenced streaming television series voiced by Shay Mitchell, Liza Soberano, and Jon Jon Briones, set in Manila, where dark supernatural forces pervade the criminal underworld, it’s up to Alexandra Trese to keep the peace — but there’s a storm brewing, the first season premiered on Thursday, June 10, 2021, in the US and globally on Friday, June 11, 2021, on Netflix.

The series is produced by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a studio based in Jakarta and Singapore with Filipino-American Jay Oliva as Executive Director.

SEASON DETAILS:

Based on the award-winning Filipino comic, when the cops are stumped, Alexandra Trese is there to protect Manila from threats of the supernatural kind.

The show follows detective Trese as she hunts down mythical creatures and takes on a criminal syndicate in fictional Manila.

Filipino-American producer Jay Oliva said in a statement reported by Inquirer Entertainment that it was important to find the right voice actresses to embody the protagonist. He said Mitchell “delivers a performance of strength, determination, and family duty that at the very core of the character”, while Soberano “fits the character so well”
