THE NAKED DIRECTOR

Based on the non-fiction novel Zenra Kantoku Muranishi Toru Den by Nobuhiro Motohashi, “The Naked Director” is a Japanese semi-biographical comedy-drama streaming television series co-directed by Masaharu Take, and starring Takayuki Yamada as Muranishi, a Japanese adult video editor, the first season of which aired on August 8, 2019.

In the First Season, we were taken back to 1980s Japan, where one determined man turned every crushing setback into an opportunity. His name was Toru Muranishi, and he revolutionized his industry. The next season of this exhilarating and refreshing comedy-drama, that premiered on Thursday, June 24, 2021, on Netflix follows the very same man, now flush with success, he aims for the stars, vowing to launch his own satellite TV channel. But the higher he flies, the farther he has to fall.

Aside from the sex, money, and action associated with The Naked Director, the upcoming season will focus on Kaoru Kuroki who is regarded as “the first high-profile AV actress.” Known for not shaving her underarm hair, Kaoru defiant move served as an expression of femininity and helped define her outspokenness on sexuality in Japan.
