STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS

Created by Mike McMahan, “Star Trek: Lower Decks” is an American adult animated television series set in the Star Trek universe in the year 2380, in which Earth is part of the multi-species United Federation of Planets, and is the first animated series to come out of the Star Trek franchise since the 1970s show Star Trek: The Animated Series.

The Second Season which was confirmed back in October 2020, premieres in the US on Thursday, August 12, 2021, on Paramount+  and in the UK consecutively on Amazon Prime.

While Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero are returning to voice Beckett, Brad, D’Vana, and Sam respectively, the new series will also see a new line-up of guest stars drop by to make a cameo, including Jonathan Frakes, who played William Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Robert Duncan McNeill, who appeared as Tom Paris in Star Trek: Voyager.

In an interview with StarTrek.com, Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan stated that there will be fan-favorite legacy characters appearing in the new season, saying “they’ll come in a way that you don’t expect.” McMahan also said, “I think the second season is going to be really surprising and if you liked the first season, I think you’re going to love the second.”

Star Trek: Lower Decks has also been renewed for a third season on Paramount+ with 10-episodes, and the streaming service is doubling down on their animated Star Trek projects.
