Tales of The Walking Dead: Release Date, Plot and more!

Tales of The Walking Dead is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic horror drama anthology television series from AMC. It is a spin-off series to The Walking Dead and the fourth television series within The Walking Dead franchise.

In September 2020, AMC announced they and Scott M. Gimple had been developing an episodic anthology series set within The Walking Dead universe.  Created by Channing Powell, who has written for both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, serves as showrunner.

Tales of the Walking Dead Release Date

AMC officially announced the show to make its debut in mid-2022. Even though the release date for the show has not been announced yet, we can expect it to release towards the end of 2022 or the first half of 2023.

However, it would consist of 6 episodes and the runtime would be disclosed later after release. The name of the directors for each episode is yet to be unveiled.

Tales of The Walking Dead Plot and Cast

Since it is an anthology, every new episode could present something entirely unrelated to the original “The Walking Dead” show aside from some of its characters. AMC President of Original Programming Dan McDermott previously told Variety,

“We see so much potential for a wide range of rich and compelling storytelling in this world. The episodic anthology format of ‘Tales of the Walking Dead’ will give us the flexibility to entertain existing fans and also offer an entry point for new viewers, especially on streaming platforms.”

If what McDermott says is true, then it may make more sense for “Tales of the Walking Dead” to offer something unexpected and unpredictable. A lot can happen in a zombie apocalypse, especially with characters that are so colorful. As a result, fans may be left with a long wait before they unravel any more of the mysteries surrounding this spinoff series.

Back in February 2022, Anthony Edwards, Parker Posey, Terry Crews, Poppy Liu, and Jillian Bell were cast in the lead roles. Daniella Pineda, Olivia Munn, Danny Ramirez, Loan Chabanol, Embeth Davidtz, Jessie T. Usher and Gage Munroe later joined the cast in undisclosed roles.

The trailer for Tales of The Walking Dead has not been released yet. Since the show’s release date is yet to be announced, we can expect it to release a week before the premiere.
