1899: Release Date, Plot and more!

Created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, 1899 is an upcoming multilingual epic period mystery horror television series made for Netflix. Friese and bo Odar are also the executive producers of the show.

Friese and bo Odar are also the creators of critically acclaimed series Dark and they announced back in November 2018 that they were developing a project for the streaming service. Bo Odar revealed on Instagram in July 2020 that Friese has finished writing the script for the pilot episode.

1899 Plot and Cast

1899 follows a multinational group of migrants leaving London to start a new life in New York. They are united by their hopes for the new century and dreams of a better life abroad. However, all of them are traveling with secrets they are desperate to keep hidden.

When they set sail, they encounter another migrant ship that has been missing for months adrift in the open sea. What they find on board changes their lives forever and a web of secrets starts to unravel. Further details shall be revealed once the show premieres.

Now coming to the cast, it includes Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeu, Maciej Musial, Anton lesser, Rosalie Craig and others in the lead roles.

1899 Release Date

Although the makers and Netflix have not specifically revealed a date, they have confirmed that 1899 is scheduled to premiere in autumn/winter of 2022. Further details shall be revealed soon.

Filming for the series began on May 3, 2021 in places like Berlin, Germany and London, United Kingdom. The series is confirmed to have eight episodes and it is produced by Dark Ways.
