Abbott Elementary Season 2: Release Date, Cast, and more!

Created by Quinta Brunson, Abbott Elementary is an American mockumentary sitcom television series. The series was first premiered on December 7, 2021, on ABC.

Brunson is also the executive producer alongside Randall Einhorn, Justin Halpern, and Patrick Schumacker. In March 2022, the series was renewed for a second season, which is set to premiere very soon.

Abbott Elementary Plot and Cast

According to the official ABC website the premise for Season 1 states, “In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers and a slightly tone-deaf principal are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.

Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children. The second season is expected to expand on this already established premise for the first season and continue the storyline from the very last episode of the series which the viewers got to see on the ABC channel on April 12, 2022.

The episode, Zoo Balloon, was estimated to be viewed by 2.78 million US viewers. The episode is directed by Randall Einhorn and written by Jordan Temple.

The official synopsis of the episode states, “While on Abbott’s annual zoo field trip, Tariq reveals that he has been offered a job in New York; Janine struggles with a big choice; Barbara starts questioning her future after finding out her favorite tuatara has been retired because of old age.”

We’d like to point out that season 2 may feature some new cast members as well as the exit of other characters, details of which will be announced once filming begins and is formally confirmed.

The full cast is expected to return, including Brunson as Janine, James as Principal Ava, Tyler James Williams as Gregory, Chris Perfetti as Jacob, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara, and William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson.

Abbott Elementary Season 2 Release Date

The series Abbott Elementary Season 2 has been released on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 9 pm ET on ABC, with new episodes hitting streaming on Hulu the following day.

The new season might consist of ten episodes like the first season. The makers are yet to provide additional information regarding the upcoming season.
