The 2020 pandemic has been a huge hurdle in the way of the worldwide releases. Whether it’s a TV series or a movie, a shoot or a release, everything has been either shifted to later this year or to 2021 and hence, HBO’s long-anticipated prequel TV movie The Many Saints of Newark, the prequel to the hit television series The Sopranos has met the same fate.

The movie The Many Saints of Newark was scheduled to be broadcasted on September 25 this year, but unfortunately, it has moved to March 21, 2021, a total of 6 months shift. Similar Warner Corporate movies like that of DC films such as The Batman, Shazam 2, and The Flash met with the same fate. Even the solo cinematic debut of DC’s Scarlet Speedster has moved to the summer of the year 2022.

HBO’s crime drama series The Sopranos, created by David Chase revolves around Tony Sopranos, a New Jersey-based Italian-American mobster, played by James Gandolfini. The character portrays the difficulties he faces and his juggle between his private life and that of a criminal organization. The series has got 6 seasons with a total of 86 episodes. The prequel movie will not only bring back the essence of the series but will also portray the life during the late 60s and 70s, the reign of Dickie Moltasanti (played by Alessandro Nivola), Giovanni “Johnny Boy” Soprano (by Jon Bernthal) and the turf wars with local African-American rivals on the wake of the 1967 Newark Riots. There will be also a pinch of family drama to make it more realistic.

The fans are expecting to see the younger version of the series’ characters, giving us the chance to taste the flavor of childhood.

The movie is blessed by the touch of the director Alan Taylor who has an old relationship with HBO shows such as The Soprano, Game of Thrones, Bored to Death and also had hands-on Terminator and Marvel hit Thor: The Dark World.
