‘Dare Me’ TV Show Season 2 Cancelled?

Published

on

Exploring the cutthroat world of competitive high school cheerleading in Sutton Grove, the high school drama won’t continue on the Dare Me TV show for the USA Network.

What do we know about the TV show?

It is based on the novel by Megan Abbott, who serves as writer and executive producer along with Gina Fattore. Co-produced by Netflix, the first season of Dare Me, streaming on Netflix, averaged a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It also got 402,000 views. Thus making it one of the lowest-rated scripted shows on USA Network.

The storyline in Short

Peering behind the all-American facade, “Dare Me” is an unflinching exploration of volatile female friendships, jealousy, loyalty, and the dynamics of power in a small Midwestern town. This teen drama about competitive high school cheerleading, following the fraught relationship between two best friends, exposes the physical and psychological extremes which some young women are willing to experience ahead.

The Cast is inclusive of Willa Fitzgerald, Herizen Guardiola, Marlo Kelly, Paul Fitzgerald, Zach Roerig, Rob Heaps, and Alison Thornton, with Chris Zylka, Taveeta Szymanowicz, Tammy Blanchard, Antonio J. Bell, and Amanda Brugel in recurring roles.

Why the Cancellation? Why now?

The news of the cancellation was first reported by The Hollywood reporter.

USA network decided to cancel the show due to the shifts toward the live and unscripted programming. Not only that, but it also focuses its future scripted on more oversized projects, such as the Evel miniseries, starring Milo Ventimiglia. USA’s current scripted lineup includes Queen of the South, The Sinner, Briarpatch, The Purge, Treadstone, and Dirty John, which moved to the USA from Bravo.

Fans have been disappointed and are crazily demanding the show’s renewal. One of the Dare Me fanatics said,  “I still need to know what happened in cheer camp!! Damn it. f**king finish what you’ve started #DareMe #SaveDareMe”.

I love to write and binge watch series of all kinds. Working for Droid Journal is helping me to get better at what I love to do. Murakami is my favourite author.
