Medici is an Italian-British historical drama created by Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer. The series was produced by Italian Lux Vide and Rai Fiction in collaboration with Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions. The series premiered on Italy’s national state broadcaster Rai 1 on 18 October 2016. The show revolves around the Medici family, bankers of the Pope, during Renaissance Florence. The show depicts different moments of the family history unraveling the political and artistic landscape of Renaissance Italy in each season. Medicis with their influence managed to build the largest bank of Europe in the 15th Century.
The Journey So Far
The first season of the series showcases the succession of Cosimo de Medici as head of the family bank after the death of Giovanni de Medici. Cosimo fights to preserve his grip in Florence. The second season is popularly believed to be of inferior quality or not up to the mark by critics. This season titled Medici: The Magnificent takes place 20 years later and tells the story of Cosimo’s grandson Lorenzo de Medici (known as the Magnificent). The next season is going to be the final season of the series.
The Third Season
The third season of the show stars Teen Wolf actor Daniel Sharman, Synnove Karlsen, Toby Regbo, Bradley James, Sarah Parish, Francesco Montanari, Johnny Harris, Sebastian de Souza, Callum Blake, and Jack Roth. In the last season, fans came to know a lot about Lorenzo de’ Medici’s life who is also known as Lorenzo the Magnificent. The upcoming season will also focus on Lorenzo and complete what it began.
Medici season three is available to watch on Netflix from May 1. Fans have been waiting a long time for the new series to drop in the UK and US. Season three will be the final season of the British-Italian historical drama, which follows the journey of the real-life Medici family in Florence.
