Always Jane

Always Jane is a new four part docuseries available to be streamed exclusively on Amazon. It follows the story of Jane Noury, as she navigates her life as a trans teen living in suburban America. Directed by Johnathan C Hyde it also features Noury as an executive producer. The series encourages viewers to understand and empathize with the struggles of gender dysphoria and what it means to grow up transgender in rural New Jersey.

Always Jane: Plot and Cast

The docuseries details a true story. The official synopsis reads as follows:

“While today’s political and social climate may not seem like the easiest time for a transgender teenager to grow up, you haven’t met her family, the Nourys.

They wear their hearts on their sleeves and find irreverent humor in daily life, while Jane sets her sights on life beyond her family.”

Although she initially had no plans on documenting her life, Noury changed her mind and decided to tell her story, hoping to have a positive impact on other families with trans children or family members. Since a lot of people do not know a trans person in real life, they can not relate to their experiences. Hoping to change that, Noury has presented her story through visual art. Amidst all that, she strives to find a sense of normalcy by balancing school, work and friends. Her loving family also provides her with emotional support. The show depicts a personal journey as Noury prepares to leave for college, and portrays an intimate narrative of growth and embracing one’s true identity. Therefore, it is an important step towards encouraging more social inclusivity and representation for trans folk.

The docuseries features Jane Noury and her family. Her father David Noury, mother Laura Noury and older sister Emma Noury all appear as themselves. They are truly a beautiful family to behold.

Always Jane: Release Date and Trailer

Always Jane will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime on Friday, November 12th, GMT. The series will be released to viewers globally. And with all four episodes dropping at once, audiences will surely enjoy binge watching the show.

An Amazon Prime subscription will be required if viewers wish to check out the series.
