Five Firefox Extensions Every Kodi User Should Have

Published

on

Kodi is an excellent, free tool for managing your media library. From streaming your favorite TV episodes, movies, and sports to listening to music. It is compatible with almost every device you have at your home.

You may improve your Kodi experience by utilizing a variety of Firefox extensions. In this post, we will go over the best 5 Firefox extensions for Kodi users.

  • Send to Kodi
  • Play to Kodi
  • TraktToKodi
  • Cast Kodi
  • Kassi Share

You can send files to Kodi directly from your browser with the help of these useful Firefox extensions, which also serve as a built-in remote control.

Moreover, users can use NordVPN on Kodi to bypass platform restrictions by hiding their online activity from their ISPs. Plus, NordVPN can secure your device from malware attacks.

1. Send to Kodi

Most Kodi users prefer using Kodi over a browser to view videos from sites like YouTube and other video-sharing platforms. Using this send to Kodi addon, you can playback a video that is now playing in your browser on YouTube or other video websites in Kodi.

To play links to video, music, and YouTube content directly on Kodi, this addon essentially adds a right-click menu to such links.

Firefox users can download this extension on Kodi from here.

2. Play to Kodi

Let’s say you’re browsing YouTube or another video website, and you come upon a video you want to watch. You choose to send the video to Kodi rather than watching it in your browser.

You may achieve that by using the Play to Kodi extension. When you click on a video link in your browser, this extension gives you an additional option in the context menu.

It features three buttons: Play now, Favourite, and Queue. Play now sends the video content currently playing in the browser to the Kodi system. Favorite lists all of your liked content for quick access.

You can play, queue, and remote control your internet entertainment on Kodi with the Firefox addon Play to Kodi. It supports a wide variety of content, including magnet links, Hulu, YouTube, KhanAcademy, and many others.

Firefox users can download the Play to Kodi extension from here.

3. TraktToKodi

A Firefox add-on called TraktToKodi enables you to stream content from trackt.tv in your browser.

You can also keep track of the movies and TV series you watch with Trakt, which maintains a record of whatever you have watched.

If you have this enabled add-on that is compatible with Kodi, you can use the TraktToKodi extension to play content while browsing the Trakt website.

In order to use it, you only need an add-on that is compatible with this extension and can handle its requests. When you add this extension, your Trakt website will show an Open and Play context menu.

Click the Play Button icon to start using the addon. You can then insert your IP/Host, your Port, and the Add-on ID of the add-on you want to use in the Kodi connection panel that appears.

4. Kassi Share

You may transfer videos from your browser to Kodi via Kassi Share, which functions similarly to the Play to Kodi extension. Installing both extensions is beneficial because there are several file types that Play to Kodi doesn’t support, but Kassi Share does.

Websites like Twitch.tv, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo are supported by Kassi Share. You have the choice to Add to Queue or simply play when you click on a video link.

Click on the paw icon and then select Settings to enable Kassi Share. By doing this, a new tab will open where you may enter details such as your Kodi installation’s Display Name, Host or IP address, HTTP port (which by default should be 8080), username, and password.

5. Cast Kodi

To cast videos and audio to Kodi, utilize this Cast Kodi plugin. Similar to the previous add-on, Cast Kodi provides Kodi with direct access to video and audio files as well as to websites like YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo, Instagram, Twitch, and Mixcloud.

Another useful function of Cast Kodi is that it identifies video and audio content from the webpage you are accessing. You just clicked the blue soundwave symbol while browsing.

This opens a panel where you can play or add the content on your current tab to your Kodi queue. The plugin also allows you to paste links and functions as a simple remote control with play or pause, forward or back, and volume controls.

How to Install Firefox Extensions on Kodi

You need to make a few configuration changes in order to install these Firefox Kodi extensions.

  1. Go to Settings in Kodi. Click Services. Search the Control tab. Check to see if the Allow remote control through HTTP checkbox is currently turned on. You can leave the port set to 8080 as it is by default.
  2. For the highest level of security, it’s a smart idea to create a username and password.
  3. Scroll down to cross-check the checkboxes for Allow remote control from this system’s applications and allow remote control from apps on other systems are both turned on.

Closing

By utilizing these Firefox add-ons, you may remotely control Kodi, play media from your browser in Kodi, and add videos to your queue list. These all are excellent for watching videos on websites like Trakt.tv, Vimeo, or YouTube.
