Gangs Of London, the British action-crime drama series was aired in the UK on April 23, 2020. The nine-episode series became Sky Atlantic’s biggest original drama launch! The show has been renewed for a second season. Sky Atlantic has announced that the show will be returning with a 2022 release date! This series is created by Gareth Evans, best known for The Raid films and Matt Flannery. The crime drama is produced by Pulse Films & Sister.
What is the Gangs Of London All About?
The series tells the story of London’s power struggles of international gangs. The plot develops when a power vacuum is created because of the assassination of the head of the city’s biggest crime family. Sean Wallace(Joe Cole) takes his father’s place with the help of the Dumani family. This creates a stir in the International Crime World in London. Amidst all this is Elliot Finch(Sope Dirisu). He is shown as a low-level employee of the Wallace family. But Finch is secretly an undercover police officer trying to build a case against the Wallace family.
Where Did Season 1 End?
The biggest question on everyone’s mind after the first season is, ‘Is Sean Wallace dead?’ Elliot shot Sean at the end of season 1. Finch was assigned to shoot him by The Investors to prevent Sean from speaking. But Sean’s body is never shown to us. So, is he dead? How is the story going to progress without him? What lies ahead for Elliot?
Alex Dumani(Paapa Essiedu) is very much alive and in control of the Wallace family business at the end of the first series. Luan(Orli Shuka) has returned to Albania and Lale(Narges Rashidi) left for Kurdistan. But will the murderers of Nasir and the Nigerians meet their doom?
The story could go in any direction from here and hopefully, our questions are answered in season 2!
When Will Gangs Of London Be Available In The US?
The show will arrive in the US in Autumn on AMC. The series will also be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital from July 27, 2020.
Here’s what Zai Bennett, Sky UK’s Managing Director Of Content said:
“Not only is Gangs Of London Sky’s most binged premiere box-set this year, but it’s also the biggest original drama launch on Sky Atlantic of the past five years. It’s dark, dangerous and we are thrilled it is coming back for a second series. We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome AMC to our gang for Series two alongside the teams at Pulse Films, SISTER, and Sky Studios. Will the Wallace family rise again, will the Dumanis remain loyal to their new allies and who is Elliot really working for? All these questions and more will be waiting for Sky viewers when Gangs Of London returns to screens in 2022.”
