The first season premiered on March 27, 2005, and it was followed by 17 more seasons. It is the longest-running scripted primetime show airing on ABC and the longest-scripted primetime series carried by ABC.

The makers have renewed the show for a season 20 but the release date is yet to be confirmed. Since season 19 is yet to be concluded, no release date is available for the new season.

The 19th season was renewed On January 10, 2022. Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy released on October 6, 2022, and will be concluded on May 18, 2023.
