The series is based on the spring of 1945 in Gyeongseong, during the Japanese occupation of Korea, Jang Tae-sang, the master of the city’s most lucrative pawnshop, and Yoon Chae-ok, a tracker searching for her missing mother, confront a strange creature born from biological experiments conducted in secret within Ongseong Hospital. The developers have renewed the show for a second season which will be released soon.

Gyeongseong Creature Plot and Cast

The second season will continue from the spring of 1945 and it is set in Seoul. It will even entwine the fate of characters that include Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok and there would be a time leap as revealed in the post-credit scene of Season 1. The teaser revealed that Ho-jae looks almost similar to Jang Tae-sang and he reveals a scar alongside the setting transitions to Seoul in 2024. While speaking to Netflix, director Chung Don-yoon said that the new season would bring a story with a new charm. The change in timeline would offer a clear distinction alongside the feeling of an expanded universe.

The cast of the series included Park Seo-Joon as Jang Tae-sang, Han So-hee as Yoon Chae-ok, Claudia Kim as Yukiko Maeda, Kim Hae-sook as Mrs. Nawol, Jo Han-chul as Yoon Jung-won, Wi Ha-joon as Kwon Jun-taek, Park Ji-hwan as Gu Gap-pyeong, Ok Ja-yeon as Na Young-chun, Ahn Ji-ho as Park Beom-o, Choi Young-Joon as Lieutenant Colonel Kato, and more.

Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 Release Date

The first season of the series was released in two parts. The first part was released on December 22, 2023, and the second part on January 5, 2024.

The developers have confirmed a renewal for the second season officially. It is also confirmed that a new season will be released sometime in 2024 but the exact date is yet to be declared.
