This June will mark the closure of Netflix’s highly popular teenage crime drama 13 Reasons Why with the release of its final fourth season. Shorter than the ideal 13-episode run, the fourth season will have the dark past of all the characters that circumscribe the series before and after Ani (Grace Saif) debuted in the third season. Even before its release, fans know how nostalgic they are going to end up feeling about the show after they finish binge-watching the final season. Here are some recommendations to overcome that nostalgia:

Skins (2007)

‘Skins’ is a British teen drama revolving around first loves, deceptive liars, narcotics, parties, and their consequences. It blends dark elements like murder into humor arising from the psychic complexities of the characters. In terms of ethics and heroism, none of them are pure black or pure white, but waxing and waning shades of grey. It is a six-season series starring Dev Patel, Kaya Scodelario, Joe Dempsie, Hannah Murray, and Nicholas Hoult.

All The Bright Places (2020)

Two emotionally wounded teens Finch (Justice Smith) and Violet (Elle Fanning) find a ray of hope in each in this love story. Having someone by your side who also has a mental illness and openly accepts your mental issues as well seems promising in the beginning. But is love more important than your mental recovery? Watch the show to find out.

Degrassi: Next Class (2016)

A second spin-off show of the 80s Canadian drama Degrassi after Degrassi: The Next Generation, Degrassi Next Class deals with teens confronting issues sexuality, teen pregnancy, and mental health issues during the most vulnerable phase of their lives. The show courageously walks into the most damaging and the scariest issues teens struggle with.

Then Came You (2019)

Just like 13 Reasons Why, Maisie Williams, Asa Butterfield, and Nina Dobrev-starrer movie Then Came You explores how the heartbreak of losing someone you really care about changes your life forever, especially after you have formed a very powerful bond with them.

The Spectacular Now

This teen movie starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley is about how alcoholism, low self-esteem, and selfishness become a threat to the relationship of a popular boy and his introverted next-door neighbor girlfriend. They walk into the emotional complications and struggles faced by teens while growing up.
