Robert Cohen and Jay Duplass directed the show. Hannah Bos co-created and executive produced the show. Other executive producers of the show include Carolyn Strauss, Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn.

The show stars Jeff Hiller as Joel, Marry Catherine Garrison as Tricia Miller, Danny McCarthy as Rick, Mike Hagerty as Ed Miller. Another cast of the show includes Murray Hill as Fred Rococo, Jon Hudson Odom as Michael, Heidi Johanningmeier as Charity and Jane Brody as Mary Jo.

The show follows the plot where Sam, a true Kansan on the surface who, beneath it all, struggles to fit the hometown mold. The story moves as Sam grapples with loss and acceptance, singing is her saving grace and leads her on a journey to discover herself and a community of outsiders who don’t fit in but don’t give up, showing that finding your people, and finding your voice, is possible.
