The Expanse is an American science fiction television series. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby developed the show. The Expanse is actually based on the series of novels of the same name by James S. A. Corey.

This series is set in a time where humanity has colonized the Solar System. The show follows a different band of antiheroes –United Nations Security Council members.  Members like Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) and police detective Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane). Continuing the characters, it also includes the ship’s officer James Holden (Steven Strait), and his crew. They are aimlessly trying to decipher and place themselves at the center of a conspiracy that threatens the system’s fragile state of Cold War.

The show received excellent feedback from the public specifically for visuals, character development, and political narrative. The show has 95% likes on Google,  93% likes on Rotten Tomatoes and a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDb.

WHAT’S THE PLOT OF THE EXPANSE?

The Expanse is a show that’s set in over a hundred years into the future. In this time setting, things are extremely different as compared to what we are used to after humans colonize the solar system. The planet Mars becomes an independent military power. There is a server tension between Earth and Mars which is only rising which put these two planets on the brink of war. With his happening in the background, a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain come together to investigate the case of a missing young woman. This investigation leads them on a track across the entire solar system which in turn could expose the most significant conspiracy in human history. 

CAST FOR THE EXPANSE?

In this show, you can see Steven Strait as James Holden whose character is the Earther executive officer on the Canterbury, later the captain of the Rocinante. Cas Anvar portrays the role of Alex Kamal who is the Martian pilot of the Canterbury, later the pilot of the Rocinante. To add on, the show also sees Dominique Tipper as Naomi Nagata as a Belter engineer of the Canterbury, later the engineer of the Rocinante. We also see Wes Chatham as Amos Burton as an Earther mechanic of the Canterbury, later the mechanic of the Rocinante. 

RELEASE DATE FOR SEASON 5 OF THE EXPANSE?

Amazon renewed The Expanse for a fifth season on July 27, 2019. This season is set to debut on December 16, 2020. The first three episodes of this season are set to premiere on this date and new episodes each Wednesday.
