Created by Tim Federle, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is an American mockumentary musical drama television series, inspired by the High School Musical film series. Federle has served as executive producer of the show along with Oliver Goldstick, Bill Borden, Barry Rosenbush and Tamra Davis.

The first episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was telecast on Disney Channel, ABC, and Freeform on November 8, 2019, The second season premiered on May 14, 2021. The third season is scheduled to premiere on July 27, 2022.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Plot and Cast

According to Deadline, Season 3 will follow the students as they bid farewell to East High for summer fun at Camp Shallow Lake, a sleep-away camp in California. The new season will be packed with “campfires, summer romances, and curfew-less nights” as the Wildcats prep for the camp’s summer production of Frozen. That means HSM:TM:TS swapped filming locations while filming Season 3, moving from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles to accommodate the nature-friendly vibe of a summer camp.

While we don’t have all eight episode titles of Season 3 yet, we do know that the premiere episode is named “Happy Campers,” according to the show’s IMDb page. Per Just Jared Jr., the series opener will not only portray the Wildcats’ arrival to Camp Shallow Lake but will also introduce some new faces to the East High students.

The main cast to return as series regulars for Season 3 includes Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, and Frankie Rodriguez. Kate Reinders and Olivia Rose Keegan will also return as recurring cast members.

It’s official that season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is hitting Disney+ on July 27, 2022. New episodes will be available to stream weekly on Wednesdays, but until then, we’ll be rewatching this first look at season 3 which dropped on May 20, 2022.

The new season is expected to have a different number of episodes considering that it was not the same in the first two seasons. The rest of the details shall be revealed later.
