No matter how we would like to deny it, but we need shows and series’ to watch in this quarantine. We can’t completely rely on our hobbies, can we? Hence, we need series’ like ‘Dispatches from elsewhere’.

Dispatches from Elsewhere is an American drama television series both created by and starring ‘Jason Segel’. It premiered on the 1st of March, 2020. It’s an AMC original series.

What is the Creator’s Statement?

Jason Segel, who is the creator and actor of the series, gave his statement in an interview with Deadline. He said he doesn’t know if AMC will come back with the second season.

Here’s what he said – “Yeah, it can be either an anthology or a limited (series), depending on how we decide to proceed.”

But the idea is that each season is stand-alone—and without giving too much away, each season would profile a specific thing, as the (Jejune) Institute was profiled in the first season.” – said Jason.

After being asked about the choice of the characters of the season one and if they will be in the second season too.

Jason said – “I don’t, you know? I like the ellipses of it all. I like us imagining what might happen to each of those characters—will they stay in touch, (or) will they not. One of the things I love best about movies that have really impacted me is that they allow my imagination to do some of the work.”

The cast of the series

Jason Segel as Peter. He is a data worker, who is struggling to find a meaningful life.

Andre Benjamin as Fredwynn. A man with intelligence but also with paranoia, who is dedicated to figuring out the truth.

Eve Lindley as Simone. A trans woman who wants to escape from her feelings of isolation.

Richard E. Grant as Octavio Coleman. He is the mysterious head of the Jejune Institute.

Sally Field as Janice Foster. A positive person trying to reclaim her sense of identity.

The plot of the series

Dispatches from Elsewhere is an anthology drama series that covers the life of four ordinary people. They feel like something is missing in their lives. However, they can’t understand what that thing exactly is.

These four people have been brought together by chance or by the plan? They happen to see a puzzle hiding being the veil. And hence, the story starts from there.
