The first three seasons of Netflix’s original show The Crown saw a rollercoaster journey of Queen Elizabeth II from 1964 till 1977. Peter Morgan’s majestic royal drama has proven to be a global success. Now the fans are eagerly waiting for the 4th season of the British show. Release Date

The fourth season of The Crown has not been given a release date yet. But it is expected to roll out towards the end of 2020. It will most likely premiere during the usual release window of November/December, as preferred by the showrunners. Unlike the two-year gap between the second and third seasons, the fourth season will see only a year’s gap from its previous season.
Filming of the fourth season wound up in mid-March this year before the lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Cast

Except for a few changes and newcomers, most of the cast will be retained for the fourth season. We will see Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Helena Bolham Carter as Princess Margaret, Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, Freddie Fox as Mark Thatcher and Emerald Fennel as Camilla Shand.

Plot

Season 4 of The Crown will continue the journey, Queen Elizabeth II, from 1977. It will throw light on the differences between her and the then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in several matters. Season 4 will show the rifts of opinions between the two regarding the Apartheid policy in South Africa, the Franklands War of 1982 between the UK and Argentina, and the miners’ strike of 1984-85.
All major incidents from these events are anticipated to be covered in the upcoming 10-episode season. Fans are running out of patience for the next and probably the second last season of their favorite British show.
