A Casino Rookie’s Guide To Playing Blackjack

Published

on

Blackjack is a card game that originated in France around 400 years ago. The game came over to the USA with British and French soldiers not long after. It quickly became popular in saloons, gambling houses, and bars in New Orleans.

The aim of the game is to get a hand of cards that adds up to 21 or gets you closer to 21 than the dealer is. This is a game that you play against the house, not the other people at the table.

In this article, you will find a foolproof guide on how to play blackjack online for real money and win your first game.

#1 – Practice

Before you start playing for money, you are going to want to spend some time practicing Blackjack in a more low-stakes situation. Otherwise, you will find yourself hemorrhaging money.

There are many different ways to practice Blackjack for free. You can play in person with people you know. Or, you can make the most of the free Blackjack games online and on mobile.

You want to make sure you are winning half your hands before you start playing for money. You wouldn’t invest your money in an industry you know nothing about, so why would you waste it on a game you don’t know how to play?

#2 – Know The Rules

There are a few Blackjack rules you should be aware of.

Firstly, you are not allowed to count cards, and you won’t get away with it. Doing this can have you banned for life and you will lose your winnings.

Secondly, you are only playing against the dealer. Another person at the table winning a hand does not affect your chance to win.

Thirdly, if you play the Ace of Spades with either of the black jacks you can win a secret jackpot.

#3 – Take Regular Breaks

We understand that it can be hard to walk away from the virtual table. However, if you want to win money when playing online then you need to make sure that you are in a good condition.

This means that you are taking breaks every half an hour or so to prevent your brain from getting overtired. We also recommend that you do not drink too much while you are playing – this will prevent you from being able to think critically.

If you are not in a good condition, you cannot play at your best. And if you cannot play at your best you cannot win.

#4 – Understand The Theory

If you want to win money at the casino then you need to understand how the game works and the theory behind it. Here are a few facts to get you started.

The dealer will have a hand of 17 on average. Which makes 16 the worst hand in the game.

21 is the best hand in the game, followed by 20, and then by 11.

If you have a hand of 11 then you can take another card without risking going bust.

#5 – Know What To Do With A 16

We mentioned in the section above, that a 16 is the worst hand you can get because the majority of the time the dealer will have a 17 or more.

So, what should you do if you get a 16?

Well, if you have a pair of 8s then you should split them. This will drastically improve your odds.

Otherwise, it is in your best interest to take another card if you can see that the dealer has a 7 or higher. If you will lose most games with a 16, then it is worth risking going bust, just in case you get lucky.

If you want to win money playing in an online casino, then you have a much better chance of doing it playing Blackjack than you do playing Roulette or Poker. The odds are much more in your favor.
