The first season of the show premiered on 20 May 2020, followed by the second season premiered on 24 September 2021. The third season of the series was released on November 25, 2022, and it was revealed the upcoming season is under production.

Production on the second season was delayed a bit due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, there was over a year between season one and season two’s premiere. Netflix has not announced the official release date for Blood & Water Season 4 yet. Gambit Films produce the series.

The cast members expected to return includes Ama Qamata, Khosi Ngema, Thabang Molaba, Dillon Windvogel, Arno Greef, Ryle de Morny, Natasha Tahane, Mekaila Mathys, Cindy Mahlangu, and Duane Williams.
