Created by Charlie MacLean, City on a Hill is an American crime drama series which premiered on Showtime on June 16, 2019. MacLean is also the executive producer alongside Tom Fontana, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jennifer Todd, James Mangold, Barry Levinson and Michael Cuesta.

Based on a story by Ben Affleck and MacLean the second season of the series premiered on March 28, 2021. It received positive reviews from critics and audiences, and currently holds an approval rating of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. Considering the positive response, the makers have renewed the series for a third season.

Season three of City on a Hill brings us to Boston’s high society, Beacon Hill. Having left the FBI and thrown his badge into Boston Harbor, Jackie Rohr lands a lavish new gig running security for a wealthy family.

Life is good until secrets begin to unravel. When an investigation opens, ADA Decourcy Ward sees an opportunity to finally rip out the machinery perpetuating a broken criminal justice system. Siobhan Quays, representing a construction worker who was severely injured on the Big Dig, encounters the city’s corruption first-hand, all while coping with the traumatic events of her past year. As Jenny Rohr can attest, given her history with her father, some experiences will haunt you beyond your breaking point.

Talking about the cast, we should get to see the leads of the first two seasons including Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman and Jill Hennessy.

There was a previous release date of Sunday, July 10, but Showtime pushed the show three weeks because of scheduling shifts. The third season is now scheduled to premiere on July 31, 2022.

The number of episodes for the new season is not confirmed as it has been different in the first two seasons. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Distribution Group.
