Hanna is an American action drama web television series. The series is all based on the 2011 film of the same name, on Prime Video. David Farr wrote and created this series. Sarah Adina Smith directed the series. The series stars Esme Creed-Miles, Joel Kinnaman, and Mireille Enos. The first episode was available on Amazon Video as a time-limited preview on 3 February 2019. The full eight-episode first season released on 29 March 2019. The second season released on 3 July 2020. In July 2020, the series renewed for a third season. This thriller and coming-of-age drama follow the journey of an extraordinary young girl as she evades the relentless pursuit of an off-book CIA agent and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is. Based on the 2011 Joe Wright film.

Hanna is a 15-year-old girl living with Erik. He is the only man she has ever known as her father. They stay in a remote part of a forest in Poland. Erik once recruited pregnant women into a CIA program, code name UTRAX, where the children’s DNA enhanced with 3% wolf in order to create super-soldiers. When Erik falls in love with Johanna, Hanna’s mother, he rescues baby Hanna and they flee. The CIA then orders their on-site agent, Marissa, to shut down the project and eliminate all the babies.

Of the TV adaptation, writer David Farr says:

I’ve always felt the film was weirdly male but knew this TV series would have a more female-centric quality.

Hanna Season 3 Release Date

Amazon has officially renewed the thriller for a third season, announcing the commission in July 2020.

David Farr, creator of Hanna also stated that he was “absolutely thrilled to be able to give Hanna a third season”.

He continued, “When we set out on this journey, I had in my mind a drama that would excavate Hanna’s past, challenge her in entirely new ways and answer the question: can she ever belong? I am truly grateful to Amazon and NBCU that we are able to continue that vision. I am also deeply indebted to Esmé Creed-Miles and to Mireille Enos for their continuing commitment and enormous talent as we take Hanna and Marissa into new and unexplored terrain. It’s going to be an exciting third act.”

Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.comahead of season two, series star Esmé Creed-Miles previously confirmed she would “of course” be interested in a third season.
