Stephanie Owens is a country music artist based in Nashville Tennessee. Her latest single is called ‘Work For Shoes’. Following is our interview with her:
Where do you live now?
I live in Nashville, Tennessee – Music City!
Do you have any siblings?
Yes! I have a younger brother named Nathaniel. He is very musical too! That was very fun growing up. He’s a crazy great guitarist and is a worship leader at a church in Arkansas.
How were you discovered?
While country music is my passion, my platform for that began only in 2018. I independently released my debut EP, and press features and other opportunities opened up from there. I would say I was “discovered’ when I was seven years old when I auditioned for a Veggie Tales recording. Being chosen by industry people to record for that CD gave me a special confidence at that young age. Recording in that studio ignited something in me, and I knew from that moment on that I wanted to pursue a career as a solo artist!
What was your first show?
My first show where I performed my original music was in 2018, but I would say that my first real performance was in high school. My church back home in Virginia always puts on a huge Fourth of July celebration where about 10,000 are in attendance. They asked me to sing a solo at the concert one year, and I sang “Independence Day” by Martina McBride. That was so much fun! I also performed in many musicals and shows, beginning in elementary school. My parents always remind me about how I sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” in front of a huge crowd at Disney World when I was two years old haha. The stage has always felt like home, and I’ve been performing pretty much my whole life!
What is your most memorable career moment?
My most memorable career moment to date was performing my song “Little Girl in the Mirror” and sharing my eating disorder recovery story on national tv on The Huckabee Show. That was such a blessing and surreal moment!
