The Midnight Gospel that came as a treat to adult animation lovers earlier this April, is a combination of Duncan Trussel’s podcast and Pendleton Ward’s adventurous style. There is no official confirmation on the renewal of this series as yet by Netflix, but the announcement can come any soon. We have no trailer or teaser in this regard as of now. But the previous season’s finale compels the release of a new season that is expected to concentrate more on death and the afterlife.
What is the storyline?
The Midnight Gospel provides a cosmic story of Clancy Gilroy. In the series which consists of eight episodes with a duration of 20 minutes each portrays Clancy as the producer of his own ‘space cast’ with people whom he interviews on dying planets. Duncan Trussel plays the role of Clancy.
What can we expect from Season 2?
The season 1 finale episode ends with Clancy doubting his very own existence. He enters a bus occupied by people whom he had already met in his adventures, and asks them “ Am I dead?”
So the follow up is expected to deal with his death. The Midnight gospel already deals with substance abuse and its consequences, death, and industrial prison complex. Fans expect that the new season would deal with the incarnation, afterlife, and related concepts.
Talking about the ground reality, it might take for the production crew, a year or more for the next release considering the present pandemic situations. We can expect the release anytime in the summer of 2021.
The success of season 1
The series is one of its kind. The review site www.ign.com has reviewed the series: The Midnight Gospel is a unique series that could not have existed anywhere else but only in the streaming arena. It is 100% aimed at adults and holds lavish, surrealist animation.
This success paves way for a new series and why wait? If you still haven’t watched season 1, go equip yourself now for a more tasty treat next summer.
