In terms of box office success, sequels have never been more popular. It’s likely if one movie does well, there will be a sequel. And if that one does well, perhaps even a second. In the movie industry, it appears that the appeal of sequels and franchises will never disappear.

This year of sequels has something for everyone, with Indiana Jones and Ethan Hunt making triumphant returns. There are a lot of great movies and series coming out in 2023, so we’ve compiled a list of the Movie Sequels in 2023 that everyone should add to their viewing schedule.

As you anticipate the release of these sequels, keep yourself entertained with your favorite slots and new releases on Vegas casino USA.

1. Dune: Part Two

Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, ranks among the best science fiction movies in the 21st century today, and now he’s returning for a massively expanded sequel. Timothée Chalamet is set to take back his part as Paul Atreides in the sequel.

Both Florence Pugh and Austin Butler, two of Hollywood’s finest young performers, will be joining Zendaya and Chalamet in the sequel. The most anticipated cinematic event of the year, this sequel is said to be even more epic in scope than its forerunner.

2. Squid Games 2

The first season of Squid Game conquered the world in 2021 and made Korean dramas a household name everywhere is set to premiere sometime later this year, perhaps in the fall. Season one followed contestants as they competed in a bizarre survival game for a chance to earn a fortune. Fans speculate that the upcoming season will continue exploring the characters’ backstories from season 1 and resolve the cliffhanger that was left unresolved.

3. John Wick: Chapter 4

No matter how many times John Wick tries to kill the boogeyman, he always comes back for more in John Wick: Chapter 4. John returns after three critically acclaimed, action-packed films to perhaps kick more asses, take more identities, and puncture a few more people in their eyes with pencils.

As the bounty on John’s head climbs, the movie takes audiences all around the world, including New York, Berlin, Japan, and more.

Donnie Yen, a renowned legend in the world of martial arts, as well as Bill Skarsgard, who plays villains again, have both joined the cast. It’s obvious that Mr. Wick’s fanbase is growing exponentially.

4. Shazam! Fury of the Gods

In the sequel, Zachary Levi continues his adventures as the adult superhero Shazam. This next installment from the DC Comics universe delves deep into the character’s darkest corners. David F. Sandberg directs, and the premiere date is set for March 17, 2023.

5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Before James Gunn assumes charge of the DC Cinematic Universe, he directs one more adventure for the outcasts who launched his career into the stratosphere. Star Lord, played by Chris Pratt, Drax, played by Dave Bautista, Groot, played by Vin Diesel, as well as the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy gang will be seen in their final film.

Heartwarming and hilarious, the Guardians have indeed been fan favorites in the MCU ever since their introduction in 2014. It’s sad to leave, but the teaser promises a moving experience, especially for everybody’s favorite raccoon, Bradley Cooper, playing Rocket. Laughter and tears of despair are inevitable.

6. Magic Mike’s Last Dance

In this comedy-drama, Channing Tatum plays Magic Mike, a former stripper who finds himself virtually destitute following a bad business deal. Furthermore, on February 10, 2023, fans can watch the eagerly awaited sequel.

7. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

In 2023, Marvel is expected to have a banner year, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania counting among their most awaited titles. Michelle Pfeiffer,  Evangeline Lily, Kathryn Newton, and Michael Douglas join the returning Paul Rudd playing Scott Lang.

Audiences are going to watch Jonathan Majors in motion as Kang the Conqueror, who will be the next major enemy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, adding to the thrill of the new opportunities the Quantum Realm will provide. It’s possible that we’ll see his cosmic legacy and his place in the grand scheme of things for the first time.

8. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Audiences as well as critics alike, were awestruck by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse upon its premiere in 2018. The film received high marks for its visually stunning animation and evocative plot. Since then, it’s become widely recognized as a landmark in the history of animated cinema.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse faces high expectations yet promises to deliver breathtaking visuals and a fresh adventure for the lead character Miles Morales playing Shameik Moore. Get ready for Spider-Man spinoffs like Spider-Woman, played by Issa Rae, and (Daniel Kaluuya) Spider-Punk.

9. Creed III

Reviving a franchise that’s been around for decades is no simple undertaking, but Creed and also its sequel managed to do it for the Rocky franchise.

Michael B. Jordan will be back in Creed III as Adonis Creed.

In his first foray into directing, the actor squares off against a childhood buddy (Jonathan Majors) in a boxing match. Although Jordan takes over as director, this installment will mark the start of the series without Sylvester Stallone playing Rocky, provided there’s a rousing training sequence.

Take Away

Seasoned viewers will have a terrific year in 2023, as numerous fan-favorite shows are scheduled to return with eagerly anticipated sequels.

A number of these have been in the pipeline for quite some time, whereas others didn’t keep viewers waiting too long.
