Created by James Gunn for HBO Max, Peacemaker is a superhero television series based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It is the first television series of DC Extended Universe and a spin-off of the 2021 film The Suicide Squad.

The show was ordered in September 2020 and casting was finished in the next few months. The series has received positive reviews from critics with particular praise towards John Cena’s performance and James Gunn’s direction and writing.

So, when is the second season released? What is the plot? Who would return to reprise their roles? Keep reading to know further details.

Peacemaker Plot and Cast

The first season of Peacemaker followed the story of the lead character’s journey to join the mysterious A.R.G.U.S. after being injured in the events of The Suicide Squad. However, the makers are yet to hint something about the plot of the second season.

The Butterflies were defeated at the end of the season and the aftermath of the event could be shown in the upcoming season. Adebayo revealed the secrets of Task Force X and A.R.G.U.S. to the public and confirmed that the Butterflies were there and Peacemaker was framed for knowing about them.

Adebayo then outs her mother Amanda Waller as the mastermind behind the entire operation. So, this also puts a question mark on the future of the Suicide Squad, which would bring Peacemaker into conflict with his former boss.

Now coming to the cast, the actors who have a possibility of returning include John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.

Peacemaker Season 2 Release Date

Peacemaker premiered on HBO Max on January 13, 2022, and it was renewed for another season in the following month. Now one thing is confirmed we would not get to see Season 2 sometime this year.

The makers have confirmed that the second season will be released on July 11th, 2025. We can expect it to have eight episodes like Season 1.
