Say Hello To Prynce P – The King of Collabs

Anyone can create music, but the truly great products come from the minds of many people working together as a team. With that being said, meet the King of Collabs, Prynce P.

The musical journey of Prynce P started in 2001 when he met DJ Royal M in Las Vegas. Fate led the two artists to do something about their musical passion and within a year, they had released multiple songs. After years of collaborations and sold-out shows from Dallas to Atlanta, the two decided that it was time to part ways to work on their own solo projects and in 2005, they ended their partnership as Royal M moved and signed a deal with an international label in Los Angeles and Prynce P started his own in Dallas.

In 2006, P was approached by super-producer Amin Emam for an opportunity to do a theme song for Chuck Norris’s fight show, “The World Combat League.” After working on it for a few days at the studio, P got the word that the song was picked up by Chuck himself and was going to be played in front of an audience of 5,000 fans the day after it was recorded. This gave P confidence to keep following his dreams in music and to keep investing in his record label. He then spent the next few years working on his craft and building his label which he named Pohectic Life Records.

In 2012, he got the opportunity to collaborate with one of his favorite rappers, Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Their song “On Fire” went on to hit 8 radio stations. A year later, Prynce released a poem entitled, “My Paradise” which was released with a video. A project that he dedicated to humanity was featured on their local TV station in Dallas, Texas. The song soon became a wide hit; everybody was talking about it, to a point that it caught the attention of Congresswoman Johnson, Amnesty International, and the House of Representatives which won him many awards. The same year, he released his single “My Gift N Curse” which featured Hip-Hop legend, Spice 1. This single beat out more than 10,000 submissions for a radio contest on 97.9 The Beat and earned P an exclusive interview with JKruz.

In 2014, Prynce P decided to collaborate with The Valley of the Kings Studio and release “And Things Will Never Be The Same…” featuring legendary artist from H-Town, Paul Wall. The song was played by 9 radio stations in its first two weeks.

In 2016, Prynce P and his label decided to do something big. They decided that after 14 years of recording music, it was time for an album.  They hand-picked their top 10 favorite singles from all the years of recording and named the album “14.” The album featured Texas legends, Paul Wall, K-Rino, Mr. Pookie, Mr. Lucci, Lil Flip, Headkrack and more. As of today, this project is still the biggest collaboration ever in the history of Dallas Hip-Hop which featured 34 musicians.

After working 2 years on this project, P decided to take a break from music and decided to travel the world.

After a long break, P started to miss making music again and in 2018, he got back to the drawing board to work on 6 more singles before retiring the microphone for good.

His first single, entitled “The Triple D Cypher” was released on 6/14/18 which also made history in his city as he featured 14 of the hottest rappers out of D-Town. This project went on to hit every Dallas radio station and it landed a placement to be in a college movie (Dig Deep). It featured Dallas favorites like Mr. Pookie, Big Tuck, Headkrack, Keynote, Motian, Eclipse Darkness, Microphone Lewis, Teleoso, Alsace Carcione, Ritchy Flo, Rakim Al-Jabbaar, Bobby Fisha and IQ Muzic.

After the success of the cypher, P went back to the studio and started to work on his 2nd single which he dedicated to Mother Earth. He named it “My Apology” as he featured Motian, IQ Muzic, Bubba, Susy Solis, and one of his all-time favorite rappers, K-Rino. This single was released on 4/22/19 (Earth Day) and the video directed by Nima T won an award from The NatiVisons film festival.

After the release of My Apology, he quickly went back to work on his 3rd single which he named, “Reloaded.” Like always, he hand-picked some of his favorite musicians to collaborate with him.  He featured: Flexinfab, Flower Child, DQ Hampton, Eclipse Darkness, Motian, GSpook, IQ Muzic and Tony Ballard Jr. This unique track was released on his birthday 7/31 and within the first week of its release, it was featured on 5 radio stations including 102.3fm and 106.5fm in Los Angeles.

Due to travels, Prynce took a break from music but once he got back, he decided that it was time to work on his 4th project. Since the year 2020 had been tough on most, he wanted to create something fun and comical. Thus, he called on his favorite team once again so they can get back in the studio with him. The team included: Eclipse Darkness, Bubba, Microphone Lewis, Keynote, Motian, and IQ Muzic as they started to work on “Rudolf – The Triple D Remix,” which was their version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. This single was released on 12/14/20 which also came with an animated music video. It quickly became a favorite with over 9,000 streams on Spotify within the first week of its release.

Prynce is currently in the lab cooking up his last 2 singles with producers Cloak Beats, Vani Music, and Billy Syn which he is planning to release in mid-2021. You can check all the updates on www.pohectic.com or follow P on Instagram at @PryncePTheGreat

In conclusion, Prynce P has been in this industry for more than 19 years. On his journey, he has collaborated with more than 50 artists. According to him, every artist is unique and has something special to offer. He analyzes their specialties and then chooses them for his projects. Thus, his songs turn out like a delicious curry that has many spices with their own distinct flavors.

So what’s next for Prynce P? According to him, nothing. The artist believes in living in the moment without worrying about the future. Ultimately, Prynce P never made music to make money. He uses music to unite other artists and uses each song as a form of self-therapy. Perhaps, an unprecedented pandemic made him decide that the world needed more of his music. Whatever be the case, we are only thankful that we keep getting more of Prynce P.
