The film has one of the biggest celebrity ensemble casts of the decade. What a delight would it be to watch so many critically-acclaimed and award-winning actors in a single film! What is the movie all about? When does it come out? Well, you have to keep on reading to find out!
The French Dispatch: Plot and Cast
The film centres on three different storylines, all set in a fictional city in France called Ennui-sur-Blasé. The film has been called “a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city” in an interview with IndieWire. The film is also inspired by Wes Anderson’s love for The New Yorker.
Adrien Brody plays Julian Cadazio, an art dealer who is based on the character of British art dealer Lord Duveen. Benicio del Toro plays incarcerated artist Moses Rosenthaler while Tilda Swindon plays J.K.L. Berensen, a writer and a staff member of the French Dispatch.
Léa Seydoux plays prison guard Simone, Frances McDormand plays journalist Lucinda Krementz, while Timothée Chalamet plays Zeffirelli, a student revolutionary. Lynda Khoudri plays Juliette, his girlfriend and also a student revolutionary.
Bill Murray, who has been a part of almost every Wes Anderson film, plays Arthur Howitzer Jr., the editor of the French Dispatch. Owen Wilson, who worked with Anderson on his first film, plays Herbsaint Sazerac. Finally, Elisabeth Moss plays a member of the French Dispatch staff while Saoirse Ronan plays a mysterious woman.
