Welcome to Chippendales: Release Date, Cast and more!

Written by Robert Siegel, Rajiv Joseph and Mehar Sethi, Welcome to Chippendales is an upcoming American drama streaming television miniseries.  In May 2021, it was announced Hulu had given the series a straight-to-series order.

Siegel, joseph, and Sethi are also the executive producers alongside Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Jenni Konner, Dylan Sellers, Matt Shakman, Nora Silver. The series follows the life and career of Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee the founder of Chippendales.

So, when is the brand new series releasing? What is the plot? Who will be in the lead roles? Keep reading to know more.

Welcome to Chippendales Plot and Cast

The series is written by Rob Siegel, who’s known for his previous work on projects such as The Wrestler, The Founder, and most recently, Hulu’s Pam & Tommy starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan. What started as a feature film project for Siegel back in the early 2000s would spend decades gathering dust, until Hulu picked up the salacious project for the limited series treatment.

“It hit a lot of my pleasure buttons. It felt like Scarface or Goodfellas or Boogie Nights,” Siegel says. “It’s bad people doing bad things. But what differentiates it from another wannabe Martin Scorsese movie is that you take out Tony Montana and put in this nerdy, socially awkward Indian immigrant.”

The “socially awkward Indian immigrant” at the heart of this story goes on to commit plenty of seedy acts to ensure the success of his business, all of which will be on flashy display in Welcome To Chippendales. “He had so many moments where he could have taken the right road and he didn’t,” Nanjiani says of Banerjee. “There are five different forks and each time, each crossroad, he took the exact wrong path.”

While in the interview with Vanity Fair Najiani reflects on the difficulties of taking on the role of “the bad guy,” the actor said earlier this year that he’s interested in taking on more roles of the sort in the future.

Coming to the cast it includes Kumail Nanjiani as Somen ‘Steve’ Banerjee, Murray Bartlett as Nick De Noia, Annaleigh Ashford as Irene, Dan Stevens as Paul Snider, and Juliette Lewis as Denise. We will also get to see Quentin Plair as Otis, Andrew Rannells, Robin de Jesús as Ray Colon, Spencer Boldman as Lance McCrae and others.

Welcome to Chippendales Release Date

The release date of Welcome to Chippendales has not been announced yet. Principal photography of the series began by March 2022, with production briefly paused due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Considering everything, we can expect the new series to premiere sometime by the end of 2022 or in 2023. Further details are expected to be revealed soon.
