Keisuke Itagaki’s manga from Weekly Shōnen Champion has made it a long way since its inception back in 1991. From an anime tv show in 2001 to a video game for PlayStation, Baki The Grappler really made it far when the anime show was relaunched on Netflix as simply ‘Baki’ on 25th June 2018. To add to the glory of this action-thriller martial arts show, it is returning on Netflix for another season in June!
Release Date
The 26-episode first season was released in two parts, first was out in June 2018 and the second one almost a year later in April 2019. The first part of the second season is scheduled to premiere on June 4, 2020.
Cast
The production house TMS studios have reprised most of the cast from the first season. Toru Furuya will return as Baki Hanma, Takuya Eguchi as Kaoru Hanayama, Takayuki Sugou as Doppo Orochi, Rikiya Koyama as Retsu Kaiou, Bin Shimada as Gouki Shibukawa, Akio Ootsuka as Yuujirou Hanma, Takehito Koyasu as Hector Doyle and Banjou Ginga as Dorian.
Plot
Baki Hamna’s father is regarded as the best fighter in the world. Baki and his father Yuujirou don’t get along pretty well as Yuujirou does do a good job as a parent. Baki decides to mark an ambitious journey to surpass his father and become the best fighter in the world. He undergoes vehement rigorous training process by battling against yetis, yakuza as well as some soldiers who can control their bodies with the help of chemicals. In the meantime five, fierce and brutal prisoners have united to confront Baki and crush him. Baki manages to gather a team consisting of Doppo Orochi, Kaoru Hanayama, Goki Shibukawa, and Kaioh Retsu to battle against the prisoners’ gang. The unscrupulous inmates leave no stone unturned to kill Baki. Season 2 will resumes Baki’s journey of becoming the world’s best combatant.
