Have you watched any series or movie that refreshed you and made you feel like the whole story is happening with you? It feels like the characters are not fictional, but your family, friends, or even your neighbor. Of course, you did. But if you still didn’t, then HBO’s original mini-series, We Are Who We Are, is just for you. The drama has been co-created and directed by Luca Guadagnino (also known for book-to-screen movie Call Me By Your Name) for Sky Atlantic as well as HBO. The series premiered on September 14, 2020, on HBO in the United States and is set to premiere on October 9, 2020, on Sky Atlantic in Italy. The trailer is slow and yet so gripping and mysterious that it will spark the curiosity in you to discover more of the scripted lives.

The description of We Are Who We Are on the official HBO website goes like this, “Set in 2016, this coming-of-age drama series follows two American teenagers as they explore their true identities while living on a military base in the seaside town of Chioggia, Italy.” All the episodes are available on the HBO MAX app. The series rightly portrays the confusions, dilemmas, and vulnerabilities of teenagers when they start to identify and find themselves. It has its own slow but steady pace, and there isn’t much noise, which has quite a soothing effect on the audience. The show is like a meditation who just desires to enjoy something soft at the end of the day. It will premiere in its entirety at the San Sebastián International Film Festival on September 20, 2020.

We Are Who We Are has a gifted array of casts, starting with Chloë Sevigny as Sarah Wilson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Fraser Wilson, Alice Braga as Maggie Teixeira, Jordan Kristine Seamón as Caitlin Poythress, Spence Moore II as Danny Poythress, Scott Mescudi as Richard Poythress, Faith Alabi as Jenny Poythress, Francesca Scorsese as Britney Orton, Ben Taylor as Sam Pratchett, Corey Knight as Craig Pratchett, and Tom Mercier as Jonathan Kritchevsky.
