Next Goal Wins: Cast and Plot
The movie is about Dutch-American football coach Thomas Rongen. He spent most of his career coaching teams in the United States including the American Samoa national football team. They were considered one of the weakest teams in leagues. However, Rongen managed to turn the tables and turns them into an elite team that can qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The American Samoa football team holds the record for the team with the worst losses on record, including a loss against Australia 31-0. They have improved significantly since 2011 when Rongen agreed to coach the team for a year.
Michael Fassbender plays Thomas Rongen in the movie while Kaimana plays Jaiyah Saelua. Other cast members include Elisabeth Moss, Oscar Kightley, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Armie Hammer, Lehi Falepapalangi, Semu Filipo, Rachel House, Rhys Darby, Uli Latukefu, Angus Sampson and Sisa Grey.
