The Rookie is an American Police Procedural TV series produced by Alexi Hawley for ABC. The series follows John Nolan, a man in his forties, who has become the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Force. This series is produced by ABC Studios and Entertainment One.

The show stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin Jr., Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, Mekia Cox and Eric Winter. The Rookie debuted on 16 October 2018. The first season was until April 16, 2019. The season 2 was from September 29, 2019, to May 10, 2020. In May 2020, ABC renewed the series for the third season.

The Rookie Plot:

The series follows John Nolan, a forty-five-year-old recently divorced man from Pennsylvania, former owner of a building firm and father of a college son who, after unintentionally assisting police officers during a bank robbery, travels to Los Angeles to try a new job as a police officer in the Los Angeles Police Force (LAPD). Since graduating from the Police Academy as the oldest rookie in the field, Nolan had to navigate the risky, volatile aspect of his profession and was determined to do so in his new career amid the obstacles he faced.

Series lead Nathan Fillion said in an interview that the drama was inspired by a real tale, as the LAPD is one of only two organizations that welcomes new officers above the age of 37. The man whose storey influenced the concept of the show was later discovered to be Bill Norcross, who continues to work in the LAPD and also as executive producer in The Rookie.

The Rookie Season 3 Cast:

Nathan Fillion is returning as John Nolan who is the oldest rookie at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Alyssa Diaz will continue her role of Angela Lopez, who is an LAPD training officer on the cusp of making detective-trainee. Richard T. Jones will depict Wade Grey: A sergeant and a watch commander of the Wilshire Station. Titus Makin Jr. will continue as Jackson West. West is an eager rookie officer and the son of Commander West, head of the LAPD’s Internal Affairs Division.
