Chemical Hearts: Plot, Cast and Updates!

Amazon Prime embarked on yet another page-to-journey with its new Amazon Originals, Chemical Hearts, which hit the OTT platform on August 21, 2020. The American romantic drama has been written, produced (along with Alex Saks), and directed by Richard Tanne, based on the novel Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland. The making of the film has been in words for years, and 2016 witnessed Awesomeness Films acquiring the screen rights of the novel. The shooting has been dominantly done in New Jersey and started the film production in 2019. When we are talking about the reception of the movie, Chemical Hearts has received average, mixed feedback and falls under the category of regular melodramatic teenage love and it’s ups and downs.

What is the story?

The official description of Chemical Hearts on Amazon Prime Video goes like this, “When a hopelessly romantic high-school senior falls for a mysterious new classmate, it sets them both on an unexpected journey that teaches them about love, loss, and most importantly, themselves.” The story tells us how life does not always turn out the way we planned or imagined. We are directed the way we never wanted to be. That’s what happened with Henry Page, the protagonist guy, who slowly fell for his new classmate, Grace Town while working for the high-school newspaper. Grace is nowhere like Henry’s “dream girl”, but fate has its own intentions.

Who are the casts?

The cast list of Chemical Hearts is small and crisp, promising the sweetness of the movie. Austin Abrams plays Henry Page, Lili Reinhart as Grace Town, Kara Young as Lola, Coral Peña as Cora, C.J. Hoff as Murray, Jordan Adelman as Student 14, Sarah Jones as Sadie, Adhir Kalyan as Kem Sharma, Bruce Altman as Toby, and Catherine Curtin as Sarah.
