Created by Eliot Laurence, Motherland: Fort Salem is a supernatural drama series made for Freeform. Laurence is also the executive producer alongside Steven A. Adelson, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, Maria Maggenti, Bryan Q. Miller, Erin Maher, Kay Reindl and Amanda Tapping.

The first season of the series premiered on March 18, 2020 followed by the second season on June 22, 2021. It received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences, and currently holds an approval rating of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes. The makers have already renewed the series for a third season.

With the leader of the Spree being caught in the last season, the new season will focus on the Camarilla and their crusade against witches. The previous season worked to establish the personal vendetta of several characters against the Camarilla.

Abigail continues to hate them for what they did to her cousin Charvel, Alder saw them slaughter her coven, leading to the creation of the Mycelium, and both Scylla and Anacostia have seen how the Camarilla treat children who show signs of being witches.

Following Willa’s death, Raelle will surely join their ranks, ensuring that almost every witch will have a personal reason for going after them, which will manifest in a united front. With Raelle now able to communicate with the Mycelium through her mother’s spirit, that will play an important role in attacking the Camarilla or defending her loved ones from them.

Peter Bellweather’s overturning of General Alder’s power in the military will surely be explored in the third season. Clearly, despite Tally and others standing against Alder, she is not ready to give up power so easily, and Season 3 might see Alder try to regain her position.

Coming to the cast, the leads of the first two seasons should come back in Season 3. This includes Taylor Hickson, Amalia Holm, Demetria McKinney, Jessica Sutton and Ashley Nicole Williams. Since it is a new season, we can expect to see some new faces.

The second season of Motherland: Fort Salem premiered back in June 2021. The makers have officially confirmed that the third season is scheduled to premiere on June 21, 2022.

The new season is expected to have ten episodes like the first two seasons and the rest of the details shall be revealed soon. The series is produced by Gary Sanchez Productions, Hyerobject Industries and Well Underway.
