Narcos Mexico Season 3: Another drug war on horizon!!

Published

on

The fans are eagerly waiting for the next season of widely popular Narcos Mexico. The delay in the announcement for the new season is making fans anxious. Is it the end of the famous drug mafias in the series? Not another cat and mouse game to be played again?

Narcos Mexico and Narcos have been actually a kind of education for the audiences. Both of these shows brought out the secrets of the drug trade out in the open. Narcos franchise has taken from real-life events and incidents. The audience was awed by the money the drug mafia could make. It was not like the government could control the mafias but the mafias could control the government. The Narcos franchise has taught the audience the basics of drug trade and also the politics that goes hand in hand with the narcotics trade. The audacity with which these mafias ran these cartels was really amazing. They could practically do anything they wanted with the power they held.

How Narcos Mexico is related to parent Narcos franchise?

Narcos Mexico was initially planned to be an expansion in the Narcos series. But the producers planned to make a spin-off series centered on the drug trade in Mexico. The parent series focusses mostly on the drug trade in Columbia and how mafias like Pablo Escobar and the Cali cartel were brought down on their knees.  Narcos Mexico is created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro for Netflix.

More about Narcos Mexico

Plot Summary

The first season of Narcos Mexico begins the origins of the drug trade in Mexico. Mexico was used for producing as well as transporting the drugs to America. Initially, the gangs were mostly small and unorganized but later consolidated themselves like some business empire. The first season follows the life of DEA agent Kiki Caramena and his efforts to finish the Guadalajara cartel in the 1980s. The small traffickers are united by a former Mexican police Felix Gallardo to form the  Guadalajara cartel. Kiki plans many traps to arrest the king-pins of the cartel but always the king-pins are tipped off by some high ranking Mexican officials. The narcotics trade runs with blessings of corrupt Mexican officials and politicians. A huge plantation of marijuana is raided and destroyed by the Mexican army after being tipped off by Kiki. The wrath of drug lords falls on Kiki. He is abducted and tortured on orders of cartel bosses.

The second season is mostly about the revenge that DEA takes by launching operations against the cartels. The series lays emphasis on the rise of El Chapo as the new king in the Mexican drug trade with the fall of Felix. The new tunnel system allows them to export massive amounts of contraband to the USA. Will DEA stand up to the challenge?

Well, only the next season can answer that.

The second season released in February 2020 and is due for the third installment.

What is the status of Narcos Mexico season 3?

Although no official announcement has been made by Netflix regarding the renewal of series. But executive producer Eric Newman seems highly optimistic about the next season. He said, “As I always say, we’ll go on as long as they let us and as long as the drug war rages – which, as you know, there is no end in sight.”

“But I would be lying if I said I hadn’t put quite a bit of thought into where we would go. I’ve always had a pretty fair idea of where we end up. That’s about all I can say about season three. But it’s definitely something that we’re actively discussing internally.”

Will Diego Luna return as Felix Gallardo in next season?

When the actor was asked whether he wanted to return to the role, he said: “I don’t know.

“Not for now, not for now, no, no, no. At the beginning it was fun, but then it became really heavy for me.”It’s a strong material and I love the way the series shoots for quite a long time because you manage to do great stuff and you’re not in a hurry. At the same time, I’m glad I have my life back and I need a rest. Those two years were really intense for me and that is because I don’t do my job and go back somewhere else. I still live in Mexico. I still deal with this news and live with the result of what happened in the 80s and 90s.”

That indicates that Diego will probably not return for the next season to play as Felix.
